How They Did It started as a question:
How They Did It started as a question: could we assemble the greatest champion company founders from the Heartland, in one room, and multi-author a book in an hour? Sounds crazy. And yet, we assembled 21 of the 45 leaders interviewed in How They Did It at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago in 2008…never realizing it would take years to finish assembling and interviewing the winning 45, interview, edit and publish the final book.
You could ask, why the Heartland? That’s a little secret from author Robert Jordan, who had a chip on his shoulder — just a little annoyance that folks in Silicon Valley were ignoring the Heartland way too much. So, he set out to prove it just ain’t so and that much of the greatest innovations take place far from The Valley.
